SWITCHING PROGRAMMES, TRANSFERRING FROM OTHER UNIVERSITIES AND SECOND LAUREA

/

I am attending a laurea programme in Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano. What do I need to do to switch to the laurea programme in Mechanical Engineering?

You must apply following the procedure described in the dedicated page on the University's website. The assessment of a student's past career is carried out by the Changing degree programme or transferring Committee of the Mechanical Engineering Study Programme Board.

I am attending a laurea magistrale programme in Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano. What do I need to do to switch to the laurea magistrale programme in Mechanical Engineering?

You must follow the same admissions procedures as those applying for the first time to the Laurea Magistrale programme in Mechanical Engineering.

I am registered in a laurea programme at a different university and I would like to transfer to the laurea programme in Mechanical Engineering. What should I do?

You must apply following the procedure described in the dedicated page on the Polinternational website. The assessment of a student's past career is carried out by the Changing degree programme or transferring Committee of the Mechanical Engineering Study Programme Board.

How can I find out whether and which exams I have already sat at my current university will be validated after I transfer to the laurea programme?

The Educational Rules for the laurea programme provide some information about the assessment procedure for transfer students. For further details, you may contact the professors in the Changing degree programme or transferring Committee. However, information obtained from the professors will be purely indicative with respect to the official assessment (which will be carried out during the period in which the request is presented), since validation of sat exams also greatly depends on the programmes actually followed.

Can exams that have been sat be partially approved?

Yes. In the case of transfer requests, exams eligible for approval are compared with the corresponding courses offered in the laurea programme in Mechanical Engineering. Validation of a course can be partial or complete. In the former case (validation of partial credits), the necessary further coursework is indicated. In the latter case (validation of full credit), the validated exam becomes part of the student's completed programme coursework (although the grade will not be considered toward calculation of the average).

I am attending a laurea magistrale programme at another university and would like to transfer to the laurea magistrale programme in Mechanical Engineering. What should I do?

You must follow the same admissions procedures as those applying for the first time to the Laurea Magistrale programme in Mechanical Engineering.

I already have a laurea (equivalent to a Bachelor of Science). What do I need to do if I would like a second laurea in Mechanical Engineering?

In order to be awarded a second laurea in Mechanical Engineering, you will need to follow a special procedure, which is described on this page www.polinternational.polimi.it/how-to-apply/laurea/students-with-a-previous-university-career/how-and-when-to-apply. For information about recognising credits towards exemption from the admission test, please see the Educational Rules for the laurea programme. If you have further questions, you may contact the professors in the Changing degree programme or transferring Committee of the Mechanical Engineering Study Programme Board.
